BOMBER MEMORIAL
MARGARET ANN "MARGIE" BRODACZYNSKI ~ Class of 1969
June 21, 1951 - May 27, 1997

Margaret Ann Brodaczynski, age 45 years, of Richland went to Heaven from her home on Tuesday, May 27, 1997.
She fought a courageous 3 3/4-year battle against cancer, never surrendering. Though the journey was at times very difficult, the end was peaceful, at home, surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Margaret was born at the Fort Lawton Army base in Seattle while her father was on active duty in the Navy.
She spent most of her life in Richland attending Lewis & Clark and Christ the King Elementary Schools and Marycliff High School in Spokane, graduating from Columbia High School in Richland in 1969. She attended Fort Wright College in Spokane also.
Margaret worked at several trades including floral designer, union carpenter, produce store manager, various clerking positions and most recently as a custodian at Tapteal Elementary School in West Richland. Her great love of the students and staff at this school continues on through a scholarship fund established in her name for the students of Tapteal.
Her special fondness for children was also evident as she opened her home in Spokane as a safe house for victims of domestic violence.
Her last years in Richland were most rewarding due to her garden, fruit trees and the laughter from all the neighborhood children.
Moving back to her hometown enabled Margaret to bring her family together by hosting holiday celebrations and her parents' 45th wedding anniversary celebration. This also allowed her to spend time with her mother during her mother's last days.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Genevieve; her brother, Steven; and her grandparents, Cyrus and Clara Deschane and Edwin and Barbara Brodaczynski.
She is survived by her husband, Grant; son, Bret; father, Ray; sister, Carol Harris ('73) and family; and brother, Greg.
Margaret was the Rock of Gibraltar for her family--a loving and loyal wife, a devoted and caring mother, a daughter who made her parents proud, and a sister, niece and aunt who was helpful and considerate at all times.
She leaves behind a legacy of many dear old and new friends which she made wherever she went.
She was regarded as a loving daughter by her parents-in-law and was held in high esteem by her uncle and aunt-in-law and her husband's nieces, all of whom live in Australia.
A recitation of the Rosary was held at Einan's Chapel on May 30, 1997.
The funeral was held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland on Saturday, May 31, 1997.
Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Margaret A. Brodaczynski Memorial Scholarship Fund; c/o Bob Shillingstad; 1545 George Washington Way; Richland, WA 99352.
