Stephen Mark "Steve" Gulley, a lifelong resident and servant to the greater communities of the Tri-Cities, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 26, 2022, at the age of 70.

He is predeceased by his father, Alvin Gulley; mother, Nila Gulley; and his sisters, Donna Jorgenson ('58) and Patricia McDougal ('60).

Stephen was born in Richland on June 27, 1951 across the street from his lifelong friend, Richard Roddy ('70), who remained his best friend for his entire 70 years. Stephen graduated from Richland's Columbia High School with the Class of 1969 where he met Susan Sutton ('69), his wife and high school sweetheart, and remained married to her for 50 years until his passing.

He was an avid reader, craftsman, tinkerer, welder, builder, mechanic and passionate educator. He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a BA in Education, Central Washington University with a BS in Paramedic Science, Columbia Basin College with an AA in Fire Science and Washington State University with a MA in Education.

Stephen served his community as a high school shop teacher, Lt. Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Kennewick, professor of Paramedic Science at Columbia Basin College, Emergency Preparedness Specialist and Trainer for Hanford and the U.S. Dept. of Energy, and his greatest blessing - pastor of Paterson Community Church for 25 years.

Steve enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, canoeing, boating, backpacking and the ocean. He found peace in a good rain or on the back of his tractor.

He enjoyed time with family, friends, strangers, and gave of himself to their benefit. He was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.

A celebration of life was March 12, 2022 at Richland Baptist Church, 1632 George Washington Way in Richland. Donations may be made in his honor to the Columbia Basin Baptist Association, 2537 W Falls Ave, Kennewick, WA 99336 for Camp Touchet.
