Linda Carol Hankel, 66, of Mapleton, ND passed away on January 21, 2018 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

She was born October 23, 1951 in Richland to Robert (RC) ('45) and Carol (Andersen) Lawrence. She lived in Richland through high school, before moving to Minnesota.

Linda graduated from Richland's Columbia High School with the Class of 1969. She graduated from Moorhead State College (University) in May 1973, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work. As a Licensed Social Worker for 44 years, she worked with numerous agencies in Fergus Falls, MN and Fargo, ND.

She was united in marriage to Myron Hankel on January 6, 1973 in Fargo, ND. They raised and are continuing to raise 10 adoptive and birth children.

Her other love was providing care for youth in the foster care system. She welcomed hundreds of children into her home for 36 years. Linda's areas of focus were to children with special needs, specifically with mental and physical limitations.

Linda's main interests included her Faith in God, weekly Bible studies, multicultural activities, human rights, camping, and travel. Meeting and visiting with people in all stations in life encompassed all of her earthly interests.

Linda will be remembered, most, for her easy laughter, quick wit, love of all people, and mainly for her love of her Lord, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Myron; 10 children; 10 grandchildren; numerous foster children; her mother, Carol; step-father, Bill; three brothers; as well as numerous extended family.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Robert ('45) who passed away February 15, 2001.

Visitation was from 5-7 pm on February 5, 2018 at the Atonement Lutheran Church located at 4601 University Dr. S. in Fargo, ND. A Prayer Service followed.

A Memorial Service was at 2 pm on February 6, 2018 at the Atonement Lutheran Church located at 4601 University Dr. S. in Fargo, ND.

Burial was in the Mapleton Cemetery in Mapleton, ND.
