MICHAEL DENNIS "MIKE" VARLEY ~ Class of 1969
April 29, 1951 - October 28, 2008
Michael Dennis Varley (57) passed away on October 28, 2008. He was born in Richland on April 29, 1951 to Clinton "Bud" and Barbara "Jean" Varley.
Mike graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1969.
He is survived by his mother, Jean; sisters: Kathy ('67) Moyer (Danny); Patti ('71) Milton (Dave) and their sons, Cameron and Clint; and Sandi (HHS) Linnen (Grant) and their son, Alex. Mike is also survived by his former wife, Darlene; and her children, Richard and Michele snd grandchildren, Kyle and Isabella; and Steve (Kathy) and their children, Kimberly and Tiffaney.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Shannon ('73); father, Bud; and grandparents, Elsa and Ezra Pahl.
Mike thoroughly enjoyed golfing, cooking, and gardening, and a variety of vocations. He was a chef for the Hanford House, and a long-time bartender for McDougall's and the West Richland Golf Course. He also enjoyed spending time with his ever-present and loyal dog, Lacey.
There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Humane Society. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at Jean Varley's home at 1788 Kapalua Avenue in Richland, at 1 p.m., on Saturday, November 15, 2008.
Burial is at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.
