Robert E. Westenberg, 43, of Wenatchee died September 7, 1994 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born in Richland to Euguene and Joyce (Nord) Westenberg on August 28, 1951. He received his education in Richland and graduated with the Class of 1969 from Richland's Columbia High School.

After his graduation, he joined the U. S. Navy and was stationed at Pensacola, FL where he was a jet engine mechanic.

Following his discharge he remained in Florida for two years before moving back to the Tri-Cities area. He began working for GTE Northwest as a telephone technician. He was transferred to Wenatchee in 1976 and continued working for GTE.

He married Debbie Harris on December 16, 1989 in Wenatchee.

Bob attended Wenatchee Valley Baptist Church and later Eastmont Baptist Church. Following his marriage, he and his wife attended the First Assembly of God Church and more recently the Church on the Rock where they were worship leaders. Bob had been the music director at the Eastmont Baptist Church. He was the lead singer in the Living Waters Vocal Band for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie of the home; a son, Anthony of Pensacola, FL; a daughter, Desiree of Wenatchee; a stepson, Paul Harris of Wenatchee; two stepdaughters, Angel and Lindsey Harris both of Wenatchee; his mother of Bonners Ferry, ID; two brothers, Dennis of Bonners Ferry and Ron of the Tri-Cities; and a sister, Wanda of Bonners Ferry. He was preceded in death by his father.

Services of commemoration were held on September 10, 1994 at the Eastmont Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Moore and Pastor Don Gibbs officiating.

Burial followed the services at Wenatchee City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were handled by Betts Funeral Home in Wenatchee.
