Funeral services are pending at Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville, MT for Sgt. Douglas Dean Burt, 21, who was killed in an accident Thursday, August 12, 1971 in Korea where he was stationed with the U. S. Army.

Sgt. Burt was born in Reno, NV on March 24, 1950 and lived in Butte and Stevensville prior to going into the Army. He graduated with the Class of 1969 from Richland's Columbia High School.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burt of Missoula; seven brothers: Jerry, Steven, Daniel, Robert, Leonard, Larry (Leonard and Larry are twins) and William; four sisters, Sandra, Debra, Valerie and Margaret; his grandmother, Mrs. Ann Rawson in California; his great-grandmother, Mrs. Ella Haacke of Stevensville; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services for Sgt. Douglas Burt, 21, who died August 12, 1971 in an accident in Korea, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Whitesitt Chapel in Stevensville with the Bishop Robert Sangster officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by a special honor guard from Ft. Lewis, WA.

Doug's death was "Non-hostile". He died out right from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in a truck that he was driving in the Republic of Korea. Doug was on active duty with the Co. D. 44th Engr. Bn.

He is buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Stevensville, MT.

His brother, Lawrence Harry "Larry" Burt, passed away on November 22, 2004.

His sister, Margaret Amy Burt, was born February 1, 1961 in Rosemead, CA and passed away as a 15-year old teenager on December 5, 1976 in her hometown.

His father, Frank Douglas Burt, passed away at the age of 68 in Missoula, MT in 1983.

His mother, Amy Jeanette O'Keefe Burt, passed away at the age of 91 on September 24, 2017 in Rexburg, ID.
